I'm so excited to present these smoking hot Chico ladies who came to the shop last night to model some gorgeous New Year's Eve outfits! All of these wonderful women were a delight to hang out with and they infused the store with laughter. All of the pieces seen in the photos can be found in the shop. A very big thank you goes to Georgia Gregory, Kelly Steinhauer, Allison Kielhorn, Hailey Dart, Maya Ellis, and Iris Fenn. Thank you for playing dress up with me! You are all babes to the max.
I've been in an inspiration drought lately. I'm coming up short on self-assigned project deadlines, I'm not in the mood to create, and I'd rather just stay warm and lazy in bed all day. However, I wanted to challenge myself to create at least one beautiful thing before the sun goes down today, so I found some inspo in femininity, softness, and of course sparkles and threw together a little mood board that reminds me of the warm twilight in the summer I'm feeling extra nostalgic for lately.
Hello lovelies! I'm so excited to share with you my new favorite secret ingredient in almost everything. It's crazy delicious and stupidly easy to make! Three ingredients (and you might be able to find two of them in your backyard!) and almost no prep time. Lemon rosemary sea salt!
I gathered some fresh rosemary growing in my garden and my kind neighbor let me pick a few lemons growing off their tree. I found some sea salt in bulk, about 1 & 1/2 cups are needed, You'll need about two tablespoons of rosemary leaves and enough lemons to fill about three tablespoons with zest. I love the taste of lemon, so I added a little more than necessary, but the proportions are totally up to you! Experiment with the taste until it suits your liking. Preheat your oven to 110, combine the rosemary, lemon zest, and salt into a blender or food processor and pulse until everything is chopped up and nicely blended. Taste your mixture and add more ingredients until it fits your personal preference. When it's perfect, transfer the mixture to a baking sheet and bake for about 20 minutes! Let it cool off and transfer it to an air tight container. Ideally, you should let it sit a day or so before you use it to let the flavors marinade a little bit longer. It should keep indefinitely if stored in a dry place.
I'm in love with this salt. I've used it to season chicken breast, finish off garlicky pasta, sprinkled it on my avocado toast, and rolled raw almonds in it. It's basically replaced regular salt in my kitchen and I'm sure I'll find countless other yummy uses for it!
Here's a little visual inspiration for the upcoming Capricorn season! This board was originally inspired by the spots of emerald moss I see creeping into every crack in the Earth that follows a day of rain, but I found myself wanting to put together something a little more structured, perhaps the sun's orbit into the practical and prudent Capricorn has me feeling this way.

I've been following the work of Tamara Lichtenstein for years through her tumblr and flickr accounts and I've never found myself not amazed by the shots she captures. Her photos are always whimsical and feminine, but without being overly cutesy. Each shot reminds me of playing dress up with my friends and capturing snapshots with an instant film camera to paste into diaries long since lost. If you haven't seen her work with Urban Outfitters or Converse, take a look at her website for some instant inspiration.
Hello blog readers! Today I just wanted to share with you the source of my inspiration lately. The illustrations by Henn Kim are so simple, yet full of feeling. Every new piece of their work I come across feels relatable in an extraordinarily beautiful way.
Have you seen mood boards yet? They're popping up like crazy all over tumblr and pintrest and I'm totally in love with the idea! They're a great way to spark some quick visual inspiration and they're super fun and relaxing to make. All you have to do is get inspired, hunt for some images that fit your vibe, and arrange them however you see fitting! It's like curating your own little gallery.
I was inspired to make this board by all of the twinkly lights adorning the Chico streets currently, glasses of wine sipped on with loved ones, red leaves in the gutters, and all of the confident, energetic, hot Sagittarians that will be celebrating a birthday this season!
I hope this post helps you feel a little warmth in these upcoming chilly months.
Hello blog readers!
Today's post is going to be about understanding all of the planets in your birth chart. You probably know your sun sign. If you're born in January, you're a Capricorn or an Aquarius and so on, but the sun is only one of the celestial bodies that have an influence on the complex being that is you! If you were only one sign, you would act like every other Cancer or Sagittarius in the world!
The natal chart is a snapshot of the sky at the moment you emerged into this world. Each planet in our solar system is constantly rotating and orbiting, so they fall into different constellations as the universe spins and each one reflects a different and unique part of the being.
The Sun is what you probably consider yourself. If the sun is located in the constellation Taurus when you're born, you're a Taurus! The sun is your basic outline. It's your central self, what you can usually be summed up as. Though it's encompassing, it falls short when it comes to determining how the planetary activity is going to affect your entire self. You habits, your feelings, your overall inner self is a reflection of you Moon sign. These traits are very intimate, and if you're an emotionally sensitive person, you are probably more influenced by your moon! The rising or ascendant (the two words mean the same thing) is the sign that was literally rising onto the horizon when you were born. Your rising sign is your temperament. It's the face you put on when you go out into the world. Strangers and acquaintances see your rising sign more clearly than your others. How you communicate with others is determined by Mercury. Venus is the sensual sign. It's the way you express your love, your art, your ideals of beauty. Mars is your ferocity. Sex drive, anger, power, passion; all determined by Mars. The outer planets, (the ones further from the sun) such as Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, and Pluto represent the more abstract. Traits such as your karma, your generosity, discipline, transformation, fantasies, destruction, creation, and chaos are influenced by those planets.
Are you confused yet? If you are, there's no need to feel bad. You are a intricate being. You aren't meant to be easily understood. The inaccessible bits of you are all responsible for making you so expansive and enchanting. CafeAstology.com has a great and easy tool for determining your one of a kind chart. All you need is your birth date, exact time, and location! You can find it here.
Thank you all for reading and I hope you have a remarkable week!
